Provisional is a study app and website for learner drivers in Zimbabwe preparing for the VID provisional licence test. It puts the Zimbabwe Highway Code, the road signs, the road rules and the 2026 test papers in one well-organised place, so there is no hunting for scanned PDFs or outdated forum posts before you go to the depot.
The real test is 25 questions in eight minutes, and you need 22 right to pass. Provisional lets you sit the 2026 papers in that same format, on the clock. Each of the 400 questions carries the reason its answer is right, and the questions you keep missing are gathered into a revision set for your next session.
The app keeps a readiness score that moves as you sit papers, so you know when you are ready to book. Every sitting is kept, with the papers you passed and by how much. The Highway Code, the study notes and all 330 road signs are on the phone, work without a data connection and hold your place in each.

Is Provisional free?
Yes. The website is free with no sign-up, and the Provisional app is free to download on Google Play and the App Store.
How many questions are in the Zimbabwe provisional test?
The provisional theory test is 25 questions in eight minutes, and the pass mark is 88%, so you can get at most three wrong. The 16 test papers in Provisional use the same format.
What does the VID theory test cover?
The Zimbabwe Highway Code, road signs, road rules and general driving knowledge: right of way, intersections, traffic lights, pedestrians and more.
Can I take the provisional test online?
No. The real VID provisional test is written in person at a Vehicle Inspection Depot, and no third party can sit it for you. What you can do online is practise with the 2026 test papers.
Does the Provisional app work offline?
Yes. Once downloaded, the questions, road signs, road rules and the Highway Code are all available offline, so you can study without using mobile data.
Is Provisional affiliated with the VID?
No. Provisional is an independent study tool based on the Zimbabwe Highway Code. It is not affiliated with the VID or the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, and it does not book tests, issue licences or offer licensing services.
